Student Announcer

WHAT: The Student Announcer Contest is co-sponsored by the Sarasota Concert Band and Beef O’Brady’s Sun City Center to help develop successful students and responsible citizens by providing an opportunity to showcase speaking skills in a public arena. Three cash prizes: $100, $50, $25.

WHY: Public presentations help students develop confidence and improve their communications skills. Participating in the Student Announcer Contest enhances resumes, improves job interviews and offers the top three winners, a little cash for fun.

WHEN: Top 3 finalists compete in Live Concert on Sunday, April 22nd at 2 pm in Sun City Community Hall by presenting announcing two selections. Audience votes near end of performance. Winners announced on stage before the final selection.

WHO: Lennard High School students in Ruskin, Florida.

HOW: Short scripts provided (100 – 200 words each). Preliminary auditions to identify the finalists held at the respective schools by April 17th. Judging form with standard criteria used to assess the students based on: Voice Projection, Diction, Expression, Announcer Personality and Creativity. Judges from Sarasota Concert Band and Beef O’Brady’s Sun City Center.

WHERE: Final competition during the Sarasota Concert Band performance on Sunday, April 22, 2012 in the Sun City Center Community Hall at 1910 South Pebble Beach Blvd, Sun City Center, Florida, 33573.
